Executive Summary - Surgeon General's Call to Action to Support Breastfeeding

This resource identifies ways that families, communities, employers, and health care
professionals can increase support for breastfeeding and improve breastfeeding rates.
The call to Action also documents disparities in breastfeeding practices. The website
provides information on the Itʼs Only Natural campaign which was developed to
help African-American women and families understand the health benefits of
breastfeeding—not just for babies, but for moms too.


Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS)

Recently other sources have become available.  The New Mexico Pregnancy Risk
Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS) is an ongoing invaluable project of the
New Mexico Department of Health with support from the Centers for Disease
Control  and Prevention (CDC).   PRAMS is a multi-year, population-based survey
used to  identify and monitor selected maternal behaviors and experiences
